Every week someone is asking me “Hey Jaz, what is a good brunch spot?” I always ask what is most important for me them when it comes to brunch then give a short list of suggestions. Well I definitely love brunch and I know you do too but it is definitely a hassle trying to find a spot that has what you need when it comes to bottomless mimosa options, vegan food choices, and accommodating for large parties. Well I plan to help you out by creating the ultimate Jacksonville brunch road map with the most go spots for each neighborhood in town with as much details as I can share about hours, specials, and go to menu items.
Northside
- New Berlin Fish House and Oyster Bar: Jacksonville should be very familiar with the Fish House family with multiple locations around town. Northside has a great option for brunch to enjoy seafood favorites or brunch classics. The great thing about this place is that you can enjoy bottomless Mimosas or Bloody Mary for just $9 yes that’s right $9. Brunch is served every Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm so go out and enjoy!
- Congaree and Penn: Do you want more than just brunch? Well don’t hesitate to miss out on a real experience by choosing Congaree and Penn a beautiful farm on the North side of town this weekend. There are both indoor and scenic outdoor seating with a menu that features alligator fritters, shrimp and grits, and fried chicken and Johnny cakes. The car features a range of ciders, beer, and wine that you can enjoy with your brunch Saturday and Sunday from from 11:00 am to 2:45 pm. Reservations are a must but don’t forget to book another activity such as fruit picking or wagon rides!
Springfield
- The District: The District is Springfield’s newest and hottest brunch spot that recently revealed that weekend brunch will now feature a mimosa tower that holds 3.5 bottles of champagne and an assortment of juices and fruit. This Walnut street restaurant is perfect for large parties with its large outdoor patio offering traditional tables and chairs, coaches, picnic tables, and most importantly two Yurts for rental. Brunch is offered Saturday and Sunday with $14 Bottomless mimosas from 11 am- 3 pm. They have amazing charcuterie boards and the avocado toast is crowd favorite. If the Florida heat is too much for you there is indoor seating available as well for small parties of 3 or less. My favorite part of Saturday brunch is when there is live music and other friendly tables willing to chat!
- Silkie’s Chicken and Champagne Bar: Silkie’s is another newly opened restaurant in historic Springfield owned by the famous Chef Kenny Gilbert. This is a Saturday only brunch option since they are closed on Sundays. Silkie’s menu features an assortment of biscuits and weekend special of Chicken and Waffles. If you were wondering yes there are drinks I mean it is champagne bar! Currently the menu includes a variety of champagne cocktails and they even offer bottomless Brut or Rose for $30. If you are looking for a taste bud adventure this is your spot!
- Uptown Kitchen & Bar: Uptown has been around for a while and they serve breakfast all day everyday from 8 am to 3 pm! The perk of Uptown being more seasoned is that they have a full bar so not only can you enjoy mimosas but you can have a variety of other breakfast cocktails such as a Bloody Mary or Irish Coffee. If you are in Springfield and you are looking for a big range of options to enjoy for brunch then this is your place. Their menu offers items from classic shrimp and grits to vegan tofu scramble. Don’t forget to grab your $20 mimosa bucket too!
Avondale
- The Blue Fish Restaurant and Oyster Bar: $1 Mimosas anyone? Yes you heard me right! Blue fish is a brunch stable here in the River City offering brunch classics like chicken and waffles, omelets, and Banana Foster french toast along with seafood options like lemon caper cod and my go to shrimp and grits. Outside of the $1 mimosas you can enjoy a few other brunch cocktails such as a peach Bellini or Bloody Mary all for under $5! I just suggest you make a reservation ahead of time because with deals like that brunch is always packed.
- Biscottis: Biscottis is an Avondale staple that has more to offer than just those amazing desserts! The bistro-style restaurant has an excellent assortment of brunch dishes that feature both brunch classics and item unique to the restaurant. Don’t forget to grab a brunch cocktail with your crème brûlée french toast or slow braised corned beef hash. Brunch is served every weekend from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm
- Southern Grounds: Southern Grounds is one of my favorite coffee shops in town and then now have a beautiful location in the heart of Avondale. The great thing is Southern Grounds is not your ordinary coffee shop and features some amazing brunch items such as the grit bowl, brunch burger, or a salmon salad if you want something light. If you are not a latte girl or guy no problem you can enjoy your meal with sangria or mimosas!
- Barrique Kitchen & Wine Bar: One of my favs in Avondale in definitely Barrique. Bring on the small plates and let the drinks flow as you enjoy brunch outside on the patio, inside one of the dining rooms, or at the bar. Don’t forget to order some pretzel baked brie with your entree of choice! Did I mention that brunch on Saturday and Sunday special includes bottomless Mimosas, Sangria, and Bloody Mary? There is a two hour sitting limit for brunch but you have from 10′;00 am to 4:00 pm to live your best brunch life.
- The Brick Restaurant: The Brick is a long standing Avondale favorite that is always busy for weekend brunch. If you are looking for a great assortment of benedicts to enjoy or their famous shrimp and grits I am sure you will find something between the brunch and lunch menu to satisfy your cravings. The restaurant has a full bar but I personally like to grab a champagne mojito.
- Restaurant Orsay: Orsay is hands down one of the best dining establishments in Jacksonville. The french restaurant does not disappoint for any meal but weekend brunch is one of my favs. The duck confit hash is always a must for me along with PEI mussels and one of those deviled eggs. Enjoy your meal with the Grand mimosa which is an entire bottle of sparkling and side of orange juice. I always do a little happy dance when I am at Orsay because I feel pure joy at each bite and every sip.
San Marco
- BB’s: For me Saturday=Brunch even more so than Sunday and BB’s was one the first to feature Saturday brunch (but yes you can go on Sunday too). This is definitely the groovy place to go and enjoy brunch re-imagined for some classic dishes like Crab cake Benedict. There are so many great items to enjoy and please don’t forget to grab a slice of cake on your way out. Oh yea they bottomless mimosas too!
- Town Hall: Town Hall is the sister restaurant to Prati Italia but it definitely makes sure to make a name for itself. Brunch is available each Sunday from 10 am to 2:30 pm featuring $5 mimosas and bellinis. There is a variety of food options such as the crispy brussels sprouts which are my favorite starters, crab cake benedict, fried chicken biscuit, or cauliflower steak for the vegan in your group.
- Taverna: Taverna is usually on my list for happy hour but it has slipped onto my weekend brunch list too. You will want to try out the scone of the day before indulging in brunch entrees from breakfast pizza, lemon-ricotta pancakes, or steak and eggs. Just like during happy hour there are some great cocktails to enjoy while you brunch!
- Maple Street Biscuit Company: Maple street may be one of Jax’s fav breakfast chains serving those famous biscuits. I always loved that Maple Street featured both sausage and shiitake gravy to soak up your biscuit but there are so many toppings to choose from to make a great morning meal. If you are not into biscuits that’s cool they also offer waffles, bowls, and salads.
- Florida Cracker Kitchen: This Florida born restaurant features some great southern breakfast classics that you want to experience. Tuesday-Sunday from 7 am to 2:30 pm you can stop into either Jax location and enjoy some of their world famous signature dishes such as 10,000 island shrimp and grits, chicken and waffles, and one of my fav the Florida cowboy class (I loved corned beef!). The San Marco location has a full bar and their mason jar mimosa is one of their signature drinks.
Riverside
- The Bread & Board: Bread & Board is one Jacksonville’s newest fast casual chains taking the city by storm. Each Sunday starting at 11 am B&B serves up some brunch favorites which include biscuits and gravy, Cajun red fish and grits, and quiche. You can also enjoy one of their great sandwiches or boards while you are there.
- Black Sheep Restaurant: Black Sheep is one of the original rooftop restaurants in town and its certainly a must try. Black Sheep uses many local farm partners from across the state including Conagree and Penn. Saturday-Sunday you can enjoy steak and egg or avocado toast and don’t forget to order my fav starter poutine (it’s sooo good). Wash down brunch with either a mimosa, beermosa, or signature cocktail.
- River & Post: If you want brunch that makes you feel like you are big city living then River & Post is your place. Every Saturday and Sunday from 11 am to 4 pm enjoy brunch dishes or a fried seafood platter. Once you are done with brunch on the first floor head to the rooftop for a liquid brunch!
- Cool Moose Café: Wednesday-Sunday from 8 am to 2 pm you can stop by Cool Moose for brunch. This intimate cafe has so many options from sandwiches, omelettes, quesadillas and even a section of the menu with vegetarian options. You can even grab a mimosa or bloody mary at this great family owned restaurant.
- First watch: First Watch locations are popping up all over town as brunch continues to become everyone’s favorite meal of the day (at least it’s mine). First Watch is well known for its delicious juices and brunch options that can fit almost every dietary need. The farmhouse hash and chickichanga are some of my favorite menu items. This location has a bar so you can spike your kale tonic, have a mimosa, or a million dollar bloody mary.
Southside/Town Center/ Mandarin
- Le Petit Paris: Do you want to take a mini getaway to France but still be within the city limits? Well Le Petit Paris gives you a glimpse of the Parisian lifestyle. Enjoy fresh baked pastries, quiches, or a breakfast sandwich while you sip on tea or coffee. There is also beer, wine, and mimosas available to have with a croissant.
- Canopy Road Cafe: When I don’t mind waiting at least an hours for something I know will be good then I am stopping at my neighborhood Canopy Road Cafe. All your breakfast favorites (biscuits and gravy) and some new ones too (churro waffles ) are here and its definitely fresh and flavorful. Breakfast and lunch is served 7 days a week from 6:30 am to 2:15 pm
- Another Broken Egg: One of Jax long standing brunch places with four locations around town is Another Broken Egg. Open from 7 am to 2 pm daily they serve breakfast favorites, sandwiches, salads, and numerous specialty cocktails. There is also a full menu of gluten free options which is a big win for gluten-free eaters like myself. Don’t forget to order yourself a mimosa pitcher or spiked cold brew to go with your meal.
- Keke’s Breakfast Cafe: Keke’s was always one my go to breakfast spots when I was home in Orlando so I was very excited to see the chain expand to the first coast. Keke’s is known for their big portion (especially those pancakes). My go to is always an omelet and there are so many options including a build your own option. Everyday from 7 am to 2:30 check out Keke’s for some amazing brunch options.
- Metro Diner: Metro Diner has been a Jacksonville favorite for years. Who hasn’t heard about those famous chicken and waffles?!? Metro Diner has always been my friends and I top choice for a Saturday brunch because we will always leave satisfied and full and can pop your own champagne to create those just right mimosas. There is always a great weekly special and all-around great dishes such as the Charleston shrimp and grits and avocado toast. hopefully your wait isn’t too long with your choice of five locations around town.
- Ida Claire: This Texas based restaurant has gotten plenty of buzz since it opened here in Jacksonville. Ida Claire make sure to serve southern fare with many dining areas like that eye-catching retro trailer van on the patio. I always like to start with the fried green tomatoes and I try to explore for my main dish between the shrimp and grits, duck and potato hash, or red velvet pancakes. There are so many drinks to enjoy with your meal too and I’m not talking just mimosas, I enjoy sharing a punch bowl with my friends from time to time as well. Ida Claire is one of the best options for large groups to have those lit summer brunch gatherings.
- Whiskey Jax: I won’t deny on a last minute brunch decision on a Saturday or Sunday I am most likely pulling up to Whiskey Jax. It’s a local restaurant that never skips out on flavorful food or a nice strong drink. I always find it hard to decide between the shrimp and grits, corned beef hash, or crab cake benedict because they are all so good! Did I mention $12 bottomless mimosas and they make sure it stays bottomless any flavor you wish!
- Prati Italia: Chef Tom of Prati has been long standing restaurant curator in Jacksonville launching Moxie Kitchen and Town Hall before this latest concept Prati Italia. The brunch menu isn’t extensive however there are options for your dietary needs from vegan to gluten-free and even pizza. To top it off they have $5 mimosas and bellinis and the patio seating is perfect on a sunny day.
- Copelands of New Orleans: If you are looking for a brunch full of options then Copeland’s brunch buffet is the answer. Every Saturday and Sunday Copeland’s sets up a Cajun spread that includes wings, carved meats, and even shrimp. If you are not a buffet kind of person no worries the full menu is also available if you just want some classic New Orleans dishes. Copeland’s just might be where you need to go for those big parties because they accomodate any party big or small I promise you we hosted a whole wedding rehearsal dinner with guest there.
